Zynga’s Texas HoldEm poker game is one of the most popular on Facebook, with a loyal following of about 30 million monthly active users, according to AppData . For those who aren’t poker pros but still want to try their hand at a less intimidating version of this classic card game, Zynga Casino General Manager Har ‘Sim” Mimran says his team is launching Poker Blitz , a new “poker game for the masses.” While Sim was tight-lipped on the exact details of the game, he tells us that “Poker is a hard genre for a small niche of people …

Bejeweled Blitz , one of the most popular, addictive, and innovative puzzle games of all time, has done some major improvements to itself since its debut. Along with the introduction of jewel boosts in January , the game gave us higher scoring medals for players to showcase their record-breaking skills, but even this pales in comparison to their weekly real world prize drawings . Anyway, each holiday, the game dresses up the medals in silly costumes and seasonally appropriate designs.

Now that millions are flocking to Facebook games like FarmVille and Pet Society , we’re also seeing another big trend — established game publishers translating their existing games into something a little more social. We’ve seen this with Bejeweled Blitz from PopCap (with much success) and more recently with Faunasphere from Big Fish Games. Looks like Big Fish plans to keep socializing its existing games, with today’s launch of My Tribe, the casual gaming company’s second Facebook game.

Virtual games offering non-virtual goods as prizes and incentives to play are nothing new. Games like Bejeweled Blitz and Texas Hold’em don’t have any animated pixel rabbits to give away in an attempt to get you to come back for more. Instead, PopCap Games runs a weekly tournament where the current grand prize is a Mazda3 i Sport 4-door sedan ! And this is also not the first time Zynga has pulled an Xbox 360 Elite out of their magic hat, as ten consoles were being offered in November at their last shootout tourney

As if the addictive fun of Bejeweled Blitz wasn’t enough reason to play the game practically non-stop, publisher Popcap recently announced its biggest month of random prize drawings ever for the hit Facebook game. Through March 9, players that register at least 1 million team points on the game will be eligible to win one of 16 iPod Touch units. Not bad in itself, but it pales in comparison to the prize Popcap has promised for later in the month: a new Mazda3 iSport 4-door sedan! With nearly 11 million monthly users , your chances of actually winning any of these prizes are vanishingly slim.

When the Bejeweled Blitz update launched on January 26, things didn’t run as smoothly as planned. Players were appearing, then disappering from leaderboards and many complained the game wouldn’t load at all.
