Mafia Wars skill points just got much easier to spend

There’s nothing more rewarding than growing stronger via leveling up in Mafia Wars — but for those who are devoted energy players or fighters — adding all of those skill points can be an exercise in excessive clicking. Now Mafia Wars makes it easier to level up by allowing virtual mobsters to add five points at once to a certain category. I am, for instance, more of an energy player than a fighter, so this makes it much easier to just assign points quickly and then move onto the next thing

In our daily browsing, we ran across FrontierVille.com , which — for now — simply has a link to the current game (and the Facebook logo). Considering that Mafia Wars and FarmVille both also live on their own dot-coms (FarmVille.com, MafiaWars.com) — we’ll bet our Snake Cannon that we’ll soon be able to tend to our virtual piece of the Wild West without the added step of going to Facebook first

Digital Chocolate lays out its Mafia Wars trademark case against Zynga

Filed under: Mafia Wars Games.com — The Blog has obtained a complete copy of the lawsuit that Trip Hawkins’ Digital Chocolate served against Zynga earlier this week over the company’s use of the Mafia Wars trademark. In it, Digital Chocolate methodically lays out its argument that, “through duplicity and bad faith, [Zynga] effectively hijacked the MAFIA WARS mark” that Digital Chocolate had a prior right to. According to the court documents (the first 18 pages of which can be found here ), Digital Chocolate’s use of the name Mafia Wars began in June of 2004, when the company got the game in its acquisition of Finnish company Sumea Interactive.

Mafia Wars family members keep growing ever more important as the game rolls out buildings (like the Chop Shop) and, now collections — called Crew Collections — that require a helping hand from friends to complete. There are three types of special Crew Collections — Weapons Shipment Hijacking, Prototype Carjacking and Theft of a drone. Each collection requires 7 items, and when completed, will reward you with limited edition loot.
